Annie’s Crochet Newsletter
No. 34 July-Aug 1988
From the Attic:
Watching my grandmother crochet elegant thread designs when I was growing up inspired my interest in crochet! Those fond memories as well as the popularity of thread designs today started me thinking of all the beautiful vintage patterns I’ve been collecting for years. I want to share some of these timeless designs with you I’ve selected a pretty Summer Hat to feature as our Pattern from the Past on page 27. Look for other patterns from days gone by in future issues.
Other favorite designs in this issue include Dot Drake’s Armchair Set. Dot has designed a new motif and adapted it to an old-time idea —antimacassars. These furniture protectors were used as elegant decorative accents! prevent fabric from becoming stained and worn. Today these designs are used as elegant decorative accents!
Country decor fans are sure to fall in love with Michele Wilcox’s Heart Place Mat & Coaster. Rosemarie Walter created her own version of spoon folk dolls with her Colonial Couple. Traditionally made in fabric, you can now make these cute collectibles in crochet!
Sincerely
Annie
