(1855-1938) is a forester-dendrologist, specialist in applied botany and agricultural reclamation. Kern has published articles on a wide variety of subjects: afforestation, reclamation, dendrology, history of the Forest Society, and others. Many of his monographs have been repeatedly republished and remain relevant to this day: Willow, its importance, breeding and consumption (1889), Gorge, its fixation, afforestation and damming (1891), Essays on Forestry (1925), Forest (1928), Sands and Gorge (1931).
