Folding Workbench Plans DIY Garage Storage Work Bench Table With Shelf Organizer. This workbench is a great space saver. It is 72 in. long by 34 in. deep by 74 in. tall when open. Folds to 72 in. long by 13 in. deep by 34 in. tall when closed. I designed this specific workbench to work on my 1973 Chevelle Laguna. Since I like to store the car close to the wall in the winter, I designed the work bench to fold up tight to the wall. The bench part folds up to the shelving area and locks into place. The legs then fold in. In the summer when I want to work on the car, I simply move the car and fold down the bench. It stays that way until winter when it's time to put my baby into hibernation.
