Question From Shananconnell [+4] Fri 21 May 2021 15:00:50 (AEST) Thanks, I am looking at the Ball Joint Upper left for familia Bongo, Ball Joint Upper RH for familia Bongo, Ball Joint Lower left for familia Bongo, Ball Joint Lower RH for familia Bongo, and maybe Tie rod end B1600-2000 Bongo. But i need to confirm something before I would get that one. I have a mate in Athens that I could get it shipped to if the postage to Australia is to much.

Question From Shananconnell [+4] Tue 06 Jul 2021 20:06:42 (AEST) I am still trying to get my funds together.
These are not the correct part numbers for my car, BUT they look correct & i have been told bongo vans use the same ones & should fit. Can you measure the bolt mounts for me to confirm?
Arm thickness?
Hole diameter?
distance between outer holes?
distance between inner holes?
Distance between holes on same arm? Measurement between inner hole on one arm Diagonal to outer hole on other arm?
I have a pic if that helps? But i cannot send it in this app.
I would also need to check the Lower ball joint mounts as well.

Answer From CarPartsHouse [+8] Wed 07 Jul 2021 01:39:31 (AEST) Thank you for your message. My caliper is not accurate, so I
need to buy a new one. Once done I'll measure the ball joints
and send you the details you need. This will be done by the end
of the week. If there is anything else I can do for you let me
know.
Regards
George.

Question From Shananconnell [+4] Fri 09 Jul 2021 08:06:45 (AEST) Just checking. is that hole centre to hole centre? or outside edge of hole to outside edge of hole?
Measurments seem a bit different. my Lower arm thickness was 23.5mm?
with a 8.6mm hole. no thread.
My upper was 12.5 thick arm & 7mm hole threaded.
|
Answer From CarPartsHouse [+8] Fri 09 Jul 2021 16:19:04 (AEST) I would like to explain my measurements further so that you
understand better.
I don’t count the holes from center to center. I put the counter
inside the holes and stretch it from the outside edge to edge.
By saying the arm thickness I mean the cone size at the upper
point.
The hole of the lower ball joint is 10mm as I have told you, but
the shank of the screw that fits the hole is 8mm.You hole
is 8,6mm so there is enough space for the screw.
The hole diameter of the upper ball joint is 7mm. That seems to
be ok.
I would like you also to explain what you mean by saying “arm
thickness”.
I have lower ball joints for Mazda Bongo with the code number
1391-99-356. I will measure it and send you the dimensions.
It may fit your car better.
Could you send me the chassis number and the year model of
your car?
It may help.
I hope this is helpful to you. For anything else you need, let me
know. We will get there in the end.

Question From Shananconnell [+4] Fri 09 Jul 2021 16:53:09 (AEST) Thank you.
So if i minus the diameter of the hole off your lengths that will give me centre to centre. I think the sizes are very close. But I will double check.
When i mean the arm thickness, i mean where the mounting holes are through the arm. How deep the hole is . That is a critical size.
My car is a Mazda 800 uttility. model BSA55. Probably a 1965. They are not stamped a year.
I have a couple drawings and pictures. The ute ball joints are meant to be same as the bongo.

Answer From CarPartsHouse [+8] Sat 10 Jul 2021 14:57:01 (AEST) Hi,
I have checked another upper ball joint I have with the code
number 1391-99-354, but it’s quite different.
I have measured the ball joints we have talked about and the
arm thickness of the lower ball joint is 23,5mm and of the
upper one 18mm.
If you need anything else let me know.

Question From Shananconnell [+4] Sat 10 Jul 2021 16:02:06 (AEST) Thanks for your time. I have double checked the measurements and they seem correct. Just a couple more things.
On the lower ball joint. The diagonal measurements should be different each way. 87.5mm one way and 84.5 the other?
It also has a 21mm crown nut for the tapered spindle?
On the upper, everything seems to match except the arm thickness. I measured mine at 12.5mm thick? It looks like the top ball joint would still work with a thicker arm. Mine also has a 17mm crown nut for the spindle. Does yours?
|
Answer From CarPartsHouse [+8] Sat 10 Jul 2021 16:33:25 (AEST) On the lower ball joint, the diagonal measurement is 84.5mm
one way and 88mm the other
one. I measured it as accurately as I could.
The tapered spindle nut is 19mm.
The thread thickness is 14mm
On the upper ball joint, the arm thickness is 17mm and the nut
is 19mm.
But the thread thickness is 12mm.
Does it sound good?
|
Question From Shananconnell [+4] Sat 10 Jul 2021 17:15:53 (AEST) Thanks, i will double check the thread thickness. Any chance you could measure the widest bit of the tapered spindle?
As for the diagonal measuremts. I think you misunderstood. Im sure you measured great. On my lower ball joint. The angle each arm come off the balljoint is different. If i measure from the inner hole on one arm to the outer on the other i get one size. If i then measure the inner hole on the other arm to the other outer hole i get a different measurement.
|
Answer From CarPartsHouse [+8] Sat 10 Jul 2021 17:39:44 (AEST) The widest bit of the tapered spindle is 19mm on the lower ball
joint and 15mm on the upper one.
I can not understand the measurement of the angle holes you
told me.
If I measure the holes diagonally from center to center will it be
ok?
|
Question From Shananconnell [+4] Sat 10 Jul 2021 17:51:03 (AEST) Thanks again. I will double check that spindle diameter and let you know.
When u measure the diagonal. There are 2 ways you could measure.
Are they both the same measurement?
|
Answer From CarPartsHouse [+8] Sat 10 Jul 2021 17:53:41 (AEST) No, they aren't exactly the same.
|
Answer From CarPartsHouse [+8] Sat 10 Jul 2021 18:11:58 (AEST) I measured the holes diagonally again from center to center.
The one is 80mm and the other 76mm.
Is this helpful to you?
