This edition of Tales 7 and 8 of the greatest romance of chivalry in English, Sir Thomas Malory's Le Morte Darthur, gives more equal weight to the two known texts than any of its predecessors. It has a substantial introduction which sets the work in its historical, legendary and literary context, and includes biographies of all three men who might have written the story as well as a critical account of the whole work which will enable the two tales here presented to be read on their own. A glossary appears at the foot of each page, and a commentary on points of detail and interest follows the main text.
