Original (possibly 1938 Academy Cinema release) British 10 inch x 8 inch Front-of-House Still (Lobby Card) of PIERRE FRESNAY & ERICH VON STROHEIM in the 1937 Jean Renoir Wartime Drama LA GRANDE ILLUSION.
Renoir’s masterpiece about WWI, set mostly in 2 prison camps commanded by German aristocrat von Stroheim, with the great Gabin and Fresnay among the prisoners. A vividly expressive study in the tragedy of war and its effect on lives bound by country or class, with faultless work in every aspect.
The still is in very good condition with slight darkening in the lower left corner
