"I, William Rufus Roney, Engineer, of No. 10 Bridge Street, New York, County of New York, State of New York, United States of America, do hereby declare the nature of this invention and in what manner the same is to be performed, to be particularly described and ascertained in and by the following statement: This invention relates to improvements in furnaces of that kind which are provided with mechanical stokers or devices for continuously feeding fuel thereto and more especially to furnaces of the class referred to which are provided with an inclined grate at the upper end of which the fuel is fed, said grate embracing a plurality of horizontally arranged grate-bars which are disposed in stepped or over-lapped relation..."
