Classic Valve Design

Who Are We?
Classic Valve Design is a Canadian company located in the Fraser Valley of British Columbia that is dedicated to bringing quality vacuum tube audio designs to the average listener on an average listener's budget. It is headed by Gregg van der Sluys, a man with over 25 years analogue electronics and design experience.

How Long Have You Been Around?
We have been in business since 2002 and selling online at auctions and elsewhere since 2005.

Why Do We Do This?
Because the majority of the vacuum tube audio products are too expensive and unless you're a solid do-it-yourself person (which we do support!), most people don't have the skills to create such a system themselves. We believe everyone interested in vacuum tube audio deserves to have access to quality audio products.

What Will Be Available Here At eBid?
Here you will find quality, tested used/new/surplus, consignment or new products and other components relevant to audio gear, guitarist, musician, hobby or DIY.

How Do I Know Your Reputation?
We have a 100% positive feedback rating under the username classic_valve_design with a score of 300+ and over 400 total feedbacks given at eBay.

What Is Your Feedback Policy?
We give feedback when it's left for us when we sell and as soon as an item is received when we buy. We do not give retaliatory feedbacks, or use feedback 'extortion'. We have been a victim of this ourselves in the past and would never inflict such rubbish. In all the years of being on online auctions, we have never had to leave a neutral or negative (or received them (fingers crossed)), simply because we believe in solving problems, rather than exchanging childish blows.

What Are Your Basic Sales and Shipping Terms?
Our BASIC TERMS are as follows:
  • Bidders with in our opinion and our discretion, excess neutral or negative feedback, will be contacted for verification that your bid is legit from the account owner. Otherwise bids may be removed without notice.
  • Please, do NOT send payment before the invoice, unless we have quoted shipping ahead of time for your area.
  • Payment is due in full within seven (7) calendar days of auction end. Please keep this in mind if you are mailing a money order. If you are mailing payment, !!!please let us know in advance!!! to avoid a non-paying bidder dispute due to slow postal service.
  • If paying by money order (only PINK USPS money orders are valid outside the US), please make it payable to Gregg van der Sluys.
  • Items in which payment has not been received in 20 days will have a Non Paying Bidder Dispute opened. At 31 calendar days, unless special arrangements have been made, the item will be considered abandoned and will be relisted. If funds are received after, they will be returned.
  • All listed payment options available to Canada and the U.S.A. International purchasers must use PayPal or hyperWALLET.
  • You will get what you paid for! We offer a ten (10) day money back guarantee. Please contact with details and for a Return Merchandise Authorization (RMA) number. Upon return receipt of the product, you will receive your refund. We can't refund shipping costs though, sorry.
  • Customers are liable for any duties/taxes involved with international sales.
  • These terms are subject to change.

Other terms specific to the item being sold, will appear in that particular auction.

Our SHIPPING TERMS are as follows:
  • Due to high parcel losses, we under no circumstances ship to: Italy, Central America or Mexico, South America or Macao
  • All international posting goes airmail or Xpresspost ONLY, due to chronic loss and damage via surface.
  • Overseas items over 2Kg or valued more than $100USD - Canada Post has dropped International Parcel Airmail for most countries. Xpresspost rates for heavy items can be expensive. Please enquire before bidding.
  • Shipping quotes are estimated with Canada Post's online calculator.
  • ITEM WILL AUTOMATICALLY BE INSURED TO ITS VALUE. Absolutely *nothing* is shipped uninsured. Be it known that insurance only covers loss or theft, not damage.
  • We will combine items for shipping. Please contact us and let us know that you are bidding on multiple items.
  • To save shipping costs, we allow local pickups. We are located in Rosedale (east of Chilliwack), B.C.
  • These terms are subject to change.

What Service Do You Ship With?
Canada Post.

Can You Send By Courier?
We will if requested, use Purolator within Canada only. We will not ship out of the country via courier because brokerage fees can double (or more) your shipping cost in the end.

Do You Combine Shipping?
Yes! Please let us know that you will be bidding on multiple items and we will wait until the last auction has ended to send you a combined invoice.

What Payments Do You Accept??
Canadian and USA customers can pay us with PayPal and credit cards through PayPal, hyperWALLET, USPS *PINK* money orders or Canada Post money orders. Local pickups can pay with cash, but I have limited change on hand. International customers must use PayPal or hyperWALLET only.

Do You Accept PPPAY or Google Checkout?
No, not at this time.

What About Western Union?
Not anymore! They charge too high fees to both parties for sending and receiving.

What Are Your Shipping Costs?
Our shipping cost is Canada Post exact, + a small amount (variable to market) to cover bubble wrap and the envelope/box.

Does Canada Post Insurance Cover Damage?
No, only lost or missing parcel. This I can't change with upgrade insurance (like the American's can with USPS), it just isn't available here. Insurance claims may be filed 60 days after the parcel was postmarked sent. If your parcel went missing, that's the earliest I can file a claim.

What Do Your Tube/Valve Tester Readings Mean?
