Some Information About DevilsAdvocate

Giving you a little more insight into the seller.

Hello Folks...  I am a former Greed-bay seller who has jumped ship because of the super high listing fees, final value auction fees, and the *horrible* and *arrogant* way that ebay is treating all their members, both buyers and sellers!!  I once had a 9100+ total positive feedback over 5100+ unique positive feedback with a 99.9% feedback approval rating. Even under the new system, I left with 99.8% positive feedback approval.

Anyway, I am supporting the boycott of Greed-bay as over the years their prices have escalated and I have discovered this WONDERFUL NEW WEBSITE that is the second largest auction site in the world with decent reasonable rates - practially free everything!- Soon I think more people will become aware of this website in the USA  even though Greed-bay is doing everything to squash the mention of this website.  They actually have a GESTAPPO that runs around deleting everything with the word eBid in it!!

eBid seems to actually WANT you to be here (vs Greed-Bay), offering low priced auctions with no final value fees... and their website appears to have been developed with great love, taking all the things I hated/disliked about ebay and improving on them  (especially the websites auction prices for sellers!).  I hope everyone will find this a pleasant buying and selling experience and I want to assure you that if you have any problems with my auctions or items not as described, please contact me, I thrive on repeat business.

At this time I would like to mention that if you buy ALOT of books from me - there is a VERY CHEAP method to mail a ton of books to you OVERSEAS buyers called an "m-bag" its kept very hush hush by our stinky post office because I can load a TON of books into boxes (padding them inside against damage) and its INCREDIBLY cheap but shipping time can take 3 to 8 week...  "you say - whao - eight weeks?" but I have testimonials I can give you from buyers in Canada who get them in usually 2 to 4 weeks and I will assume 3 to 6 weeks for England...  Australia might count on 4 to 8 weeks.. But I think they usually arrive VERY FAST just want you to be aware they MIGHT take a long time...  My testimonal can come from a RETIRED LUTENIENT-COLONEL (one step below general) in Canada... we have had multiple dealings to gether and can provide his email me as testimonial...  check out m-bag on internet or email me...

I buy PREMIUM COLLECTIBLE SCIENCE FICTION, FANTASY, AND HORROR First Edition Hardbacks - it is my speciality and I do this mainly as a hobby and small business.  Specialty bookstores can no longer thrive in the age of the internet so I decided to Live my life-long dream of selling specialty books 12 years ago on the internet. First on abebooks.com but the user fees were too high  for small sellers (like me) and every dealer wants rediculously high premium prices for their books, I moved to ebay NINE YEARS ago....  I think even Ebayers do a far better job of describing their books than the oh-co-called professional sellers on abebooks.com who as premium prices.  I was getting bookclub editions as first edition hardback, books not in the condition described, later printings, books that said signed and werent etc. etc.. I sent back 2 out of 3 books ordered there, I got this feeling of desperation from the seller there.

I am hoping like ebay, the eBid sellers will do as good a job.  Ebay is being boycotted right now by both buyers and sellers in case you havent noticed how much the offerings have disappeared.  I thirive on buying PREMIUM CONDITION COLLECTIBLE HARDBACKS and paperbacks that are all first editions and having a high turnover rate. i.e. on ebay I would turn them over after one or two listings.  So my inventory flucuates drastically with how lucky I can be shopping. I think I will post all my collectible comics in my eBid store which I will work on last - I have like 1000+ books to post right now...

Anyway, down from the soapbox, its time to post...  My hopes and dreams are simple - live a happy life (hopefully long) and get pleasure out of dealing with fellow booklovers.  This is a hobby for me as well as a small business (the IRS says its a business if you make $500 a year doing anything... sigh...fyi...).  Please note, I only do mailings twice a week as I do not have a true storefront (which small independent sellers cant afford nowdays) and thus I cannot get to mailings on a daily basis.  But I do promise to mail the items out during a week of purchase, usually I manage within a day or two of an item selling, sometimes work calling can delay me a few more days.   This is to be fair to you upfront, but I dont think yoiu will be disappointed with any the quallity of any of my books and if you are, I will rectify that situation.  All I ask is that you CONTACT me if you are unhappy... I take great pains to describe any defects that may be apparent upon inspection but I am fallable and can miss something.... (but I think I am "Practially Perfect in Every Way" quote:  Mary Poppins)

sincerely,

Bob Pylant  aka DevilsAdvocate aka ORION STAR BOOKS  (my business name which includes my favorite constellation, and my favorite tarot card the star.... fyi)

p.s. if you read down this far and didnt get board with my ramblings... I think I picked the best way to run my auctions i.e. I set them to run until someone bids and then 5 to 7 days ends the auction.  Or you can simply buy it now if a book is what you want asap... I kept the buy-it-now prices low to induce this procedure.  In effect I am trying to get people to scan my auctions, find a NUMBER of them that they want and then we can proceed with an M-BAG to save you money - one or two books I mail by FIXED AIRMAIL PACKET where I can load one MASSIVE FANTASY READ BOOK or two smaller/thinner books for a fixed price of $13.... sorry there is no cheaper way to mail from USA to you overseas buyers... as no more overseas bookrates by our greedy post office...
