I remember reading charlie and the chocolate factory long before i knew a film existed - it really got my imagination going
The three books I know I read more than once - and so must be favourites:
Coral Island by R.M. Ballantyne
The Water Babies by Charles Kingsley
Mutant 59 (The Plastic Eaters) by 'Kit' Pedlar
Mine were all Enid Blyton...the lion the witch and the wardrobe..loved it !...Charlottes Web..Black beauty...Wizard of Oz...oh..we read loads of books as children..i spent hours in the library...
I've often wondered this... am I the only person who loathed The Lion, The Witch and The Wardrobe? Hideous. Sorry Jean, I know it's hugely popular so this isn't a reflection on anybody's taste but my own. But really, does *anybody* else dislike it?
I have only read it as an adult. I can see the appeal it has on children, for me it was ok, just
What a lovely coincidence, and by looks of things we both love fairies too
I've never read it - it never really appealed to me - neither did any of the classics - Jane Eyre, Lorna Doone, Little Women etc. I remember having to read some book for school - I think it was What Katy Did Next - I read the first page and thought - can't read this its a load of carp - so I put it down and read one of my own books and did a book report on that instead. Didn't really go down well with the teacher at the time but I did get reasonable marks for effort.
