Thread: Removing Reserve??

  1. #41

I can understand why people selling higher priced goods like the idea of setting a low starting price with a reserve.

It doesn't realy bother me either way if people choose to set one I just buy from someone else. I've only once ever bid on an item with a reserve on it ( I was in a hurry & didn't check the auction properly).
I would like to lose that flashing red R from the site.

#39 I understand exactly what you are saying.

We need as many sellers of quality items like yours as possible and if you think that's what you need, then why should the option be removed taking the chance of losing buyers?

    Anichka.
Thanks for your reply and advice. I have tried doing it as you suggest, putting the lowest price, but that did not work. People are now looking, even if not buying at the moment. At least with the reserve price, being a newbie to this site, I could use it as a carrot in the hope of getting some views, and a fair price. Maybe I would be better off leaving the lower cost items here, but moving the higher grade items to another site. Shame really as I moved my items here for the numerous great features, along with the low cost fees.

How about half & half for a while? some with reserve & some at lowest acceptable price, just an idea, there are new people joining daily, maybe the people that will want your items just haven't seen them yet

That way, once you start getting sales, you'll be able to tell which actually works best, maybe it will be the ones with reserves (i don't know, i only know that i don't like reserves, i also know that not everyone agrees with everything). Whichever way you decide to go, i do wish you luck with your sales.

My auctions, good prices, fair p&p.

How about leaving things as they are, but making it easier to see if an auction has a reserve when browsing, instead of having to go into the auction?

Instead of the flashing red R for reserve met,
why not a static red R for all auctions with reserves,
that changes to a static green R when the reserve is met.

Then if you don't like reserve auctions you can just pass them by.

A great idea, on a par with those fliers I have downloaded of yours. Thanks for that by the way.

Or even a red R for a reserve auction that dissapears when it is met, that may even encourage more bidders and make the site look as though it's worth listing on.
