Default Remembering the fallen of the First World War

More than one million Service men and women gave their lives in the First World War so that future generations could live theirs.

The Royal British Legion is committed to ensuring their sacrifice is never forgotten: search those remembered and continue to commemorate their lives by leaving a short message of remembrance.

Found my grandfather's cousin who was killed in action on the Somme in 1917 aged 22.

The Imperial War Museum has had an ongoing project to gather as much information about those who served in WWI as they can. https://livesofthefirstworldwar.org

This will create a permanent database which can be used for future research.

Also Fold3 has a limited period of free access to their service record collections starting on the 8th... so get those searching fingers ready.

While I certainly have nothing against those that gave their lives during the First World War, I usually prefer to see all those that perished as a result of war be remember. Alas! I believe it was Plato that said, "Only the dead have seen the end of war."
