It's generally accepted that Scotland gets £1200 more than the UK average in government spending per person. However, it's also accepted that Scotland also contributes £1700 more than the UK average, per person, in tax receipts. So, for every £100 we receive, we pay back £142. As for hating the English, where does this feeling come from? I certainly don't, and I couldn't honestly think of anyone who I know that does. It almost sounds like a "Daily Mail" theory to me.
As for English independence... Maybe London independence would be a much better option. Then everybody else would be on a more level playing field.
