Seller's Description
1974 NWF Wildlife Stamps 2 Panes of 6
Mint condition
This was originally a pane of 12 stamps from the National Wildlife Federation in 1974. It was separated into two sections and stored in a photo display page protected by plastic. The two sections could be mounted and framed together as shown in the first photo.
The panorama was a painting by Charles Fracé; his signature is in the stamp with the purple finches. He was one of the most sought-after wildlife artists of all time, and his work was featured in more than 450 exhibitions, including the Smithsonian Institute in 1993.
The animals in this painting are a white-tail deer, a river otter, red foxes, a raccoon, striped skunks, a bobcat, a black bear, an oppossum, and northern flying squirrels. The birds are Myrtle warblers, a red-headed woodpecker, purple finches, and a bluejay.
The large stamps are 3 by 2 inches, the smaller ones are 2 by 1½ inches
Each pane is 7¼ by 5 inches
