Crafted in the workshop of Sefton Delmer and Ellic Howe, this unusual 'black propaganda' leaflet initially appears to promote recruitment for the German submarine fleet. Yet, sliding down the movable part unveils a sinking U-boat and a drowning submariner.
“This trick leaflet was most popular. Germans used it so much, a leaflet in good condition is not often seen” (Klaus Kirchner, The Leaflet Collector 1).
Minor staining and creasing only, corners just a little bruised.
