ABOUT ME:

  **

Hello, my name is Susie and I am lucky enough to live in a beautiful area of Middlesex, near Richmond Park. I may be what's politely called 'middle-aged' and despite what the mirror reflects, still feel 18 inside (can still be as rebellious too!). I have 3 grown up daughters of whom I'm extremely proud and a beautiful, bewitching 2 year old granddaughter.

The Fair Trade Faerie was launched in June 2006 after I became disillusioned at not being able to find the organic skin care and Fair-Trade products which I wanted to buy - they were either unavailable or simply too expensive.

I wanted to be able to offer others the high quality goods which I have specifically sourced from companies recognised by the Soil Association as organic or by companies with specific fairtrade policies. I have a varied selection of 100% natural, organic and fair trade skin care; fair-trade gifts & accessories and organic truffle chocolates! I hope you enjoy them as much as I did finding them for you...

As a teenager, I was heavily influenced by the 'hippie' culture but like most of my generation, had to grow up. However, the ethos and the passion remain - the need to respect myself, other people and the world around us. Treating people with honesty, fairness and kindness invariably sends it full circle - that way we all get to smile!

I spent many years running an A&E dept on night duty then became a midwife. There are many hundreds of babies out there who I helped their mothers deliver. Fantastic job. I became a practice nurse in a GP surgery after my children grew up – and it was so much more than just a job - my scrummy partner couldn't understand how I managed to look forward to work every morning!

Sadly, I had to give it up last year due to a long-term illness, but it has meant I could put all my energy into making TFTF a reality.

My age won't take too much working out and believe me I was dreading that 'Big Milestone' especially as it coincided with the term 'Grandma'! But I love it - I'm more confident and realistic about life and welcome what it throws me with all the enthusiasm of a teenager! Just need to have the accelerator throttled back more often!

Please feel free to email me, as both comments & stock suggestions are respected – how else can we improve?

Enjoy the browse,
Susie

Founder of The Fair Trade Faerie
June 2006

The photo is of 'Crina Bottom' in the village of Ingleton, Yorkshire. My mother grew up in the village and I have always felt it was my spiritual home. Crina Bottom is a house, tucked away on Ingleborough Hill, and as a child I was convinced it was Emily Bronte's inspiration for 'Wuthering Heights'. For many a long hour, I would wander over the moors yelling 'Heathcliff - it's Cathy'!

Ahh the innocence of childhood......
