Seller's Description
This is a postcard showing a Flag Captain of the Royal Navy, seated in his uniform. A "Flag Captain" was the commanding officer/"captain" of a warship which was acting as the flagship of (usually) an admiral. The Flag Captain was responsible for the operation of the warship itself, while the Admiral was responsible for the whole squadron of warships under his command. The aiguillette on his left shoulder denotes this officer's role.
The card is in fair condition with minor wear to the corners and edges, and some marks. It was posted in (I think) 1906.
