New to ebid.... is it worth us starting?

Hello all
We are new to this site and have been looking around for a couple of days now. the forums seem very quiet with little activity. ( could be wrong still looking)
We are also disgruntled sellers from ebay. We were mostly sellers of vinyl records dealing in low cost singles that would sell for around £1. As yet we have not made our mind up if it is worth carrying on. We would love to hear from anybody about what this site has to offer. We have several ebay customers who are keen to know if we are going to sell, and we would love some input before we part with money to start selling again.

Hi, welcome to eBid. I've been here since 2008 and signed up for the platinum membership giving me up to 5 stores with zero listing fees. Since joining I have sold thousands of items mostly records and books. I previously sold on the other site and left once they started imposing rules that made it difficult to sell with any kind of profit.
Regarding sales now it is quieter than it used to be for me, this is mainly due to me not having the amount of listings that I used to have.
If you put on lots of listings with the platinum membership and keep your prices sensible you should attract buyers especially if you can bring some of your regular buyers with you.
I hope you join our vinyl sellers, the more the merrier.

Hi. I've only just joined having left e-bay in disgust after 8 years as a top rated seller. I've only got about 11 items in my Store (Vinyl)so far and have yet to sell anything in 2 weeks. However far more views than I was getting on e-bay in the same time. I think sales are quite everywhere due to the appalling state of the economy. There is good advice below. Charges are minimal on here and you can pick and choose your own postage unlike e bay! It's relatively easy to set up. The main problem is that this site does have nothing like the world wide customer base of e-bay, but people are advising me to stick with it. One thing since opening a store my views have doubled in a few days. If you sell anything much under a tenner on e-bay now with all the confusing taxes and charges you'll barely make a profit and need a maths degree to work it out! Good luck. Keep in touch.

Welcome AnnPaul & Dougs Vinyl. Nice to see some more vinyl sellers on here. As I said in my previous reply the more you list using the shop option the better. I've had a few sales last month, though as Doug says it is quiet everywhere at present. Even some of my regular buyers have been quite just lately. I add my listings to Pinterest and also there are a few eBid facebook pages you can list on, including one of my own.

I am a longtime eBay seller who tried another alternate marketplace in 2015, but became frustrated due to a recent change where sellers would be charged for listing items per month (even if you didn't visit that store.)

Nevertheless, once I closed that account--I did some Google searching and that's how I ended up here.

I sell some CD's, in addition to other collectible items.
I look forward to gaining some tips and future advice on how to make this site worthwhile for people to find my stuff.

Although I have not had a good time this year on here - I will say one thing

It is amazingly easy and fast to list here, none of the 1000 Item Specifics required , no forced promotions and you will not get robbed on fee's. There are lots of positives with this site but there are also negatives such as low traffic and no advertising, however it won't take you long to get your listings on here and it would be nice to see more Vinyl on here
