My father used to tease my mother by saying 'Tha needs fettlin woman'! She would always reply 'Oooo Leslie, you are awful'.

She always made sure his tea was ready sharp on the dot in case he 'fettled her' whatever that meant to them. Bless them.

When I was in Peterhead I learned to greet friends with "Fit like?" The acceptable response being "Nay bad". But the one that always took me aback was Aberdonian bar staff asking me "are you getting yours?" Alas it only means "are you being served?".
