I just tried a test auction using purplestevie's javascript description from the vintage owzthat page and recieved the captcha page as soon as I hit enter ~ I can't show you the coding on here because it does the same thing (captcha)
You also get the Captcha page on the listing page if you try and change editors (WYSIWYG Advanced <> Plain HTML Box <> WYSIWYG Simple) if the description contains Javascript.
What worries me is that if embedded Javascript in descriptions does prove to be the root of the problem admin will take the easy option of disallowing Javascript in listings.

I always use the Plain HTML Box so I can't comment on the other editors.
I think your right Mel when you say eBid might disallow java in description areas, which doesn't bother me because I don't use java, I would have no where to store it online since I don't have my own website any more.
Do description areas even warrant java script?
I use it a lot in listing templates for things like buttons, interactive elements, images and page manipulation (e.g. https://www.ebid.net/uk/for-sale/tes...-174077352.htm). Some sellers use it for other stuff like Google Analytics.
It's already running on the listing page as eBid use it a lot, so my embedded Javascript just calls the library on eBid; I don't need any external storage.
It also used to be allowed on users' My All About Me pages but that then was suddenly disallowed with no real reason given.

Javascript is permitted in listing descriptions still and over the last few days has been causing CAPTCHA alerts to be carried out which we agree is very annoying, we were hoping a single CAPTCHA would whitelist you for further similar activity for a period of time but it isn't working like that.
We have however tweeked some other settings which mean the CAPTCHA should no longer be required when listing new items and editing items with JS code in descriptions.
Let us know how you get on.
Thx,

Gazza - whatever you did resulted in my NOT being delayed entering eBid while the site was verified by the browser (which had been happening EVERY time I popped in). Thanks!! Looks a lot better, anyway, and is faster.

From a quick play:
Seems to be sorted but a couple of observations which I don't know if are issues or not.
1. When I first came on the site this morning although I was logged in my test listing from yesterday behaved as if I were not. It didn't show me as the seller and there was no option to edit the listing. I had to log out and back in again to be recognised as the owner of the listing and be able to edit it. A one off occurrence that so far has not reappeared.
2. So far, since the fix, I have seen no browser check or Captcha at all. If you have made it totally transparent then fine, but if there is supposed to be a check at some stage I haven't seen it.
More active users will be better placed to give you feedback.
Thanks for not taking the easy option of disallowing Javascript in descriptions though.
