SO annoying! I just made a new post, and I can't go back to read it unless I go do some funky search or someone else adds something to it.
I see what you do, astral. And the forums are important to me and others here. I hope that whoever runs the forum part can reboot things back to where they were.

    Ta-Ta for now!

The forums were updated to the latest version of the forums software, must be related to that.

We'll take a look into it. The problem is after a new thread is started or a reply is added to a current thread?

    Thx,

Thank you Gazza. Yes, both of those and even if you just click on a thread to look it vanishes from the list.

Can you confirm I'm understanding this.

When you add a reply OR start a new thread and THEN click the "what's new" button near the top of the page, you're saying your reply or thread is not shown to you in the list?

Is that correct? I take it that it used to show before?

    Thanks,
    Gazza

We used to be able to click on the new post button either read a thread or post on a thread and then return to the new post button and the thread that you had either read or posted on would still be there.
Now you read or post on a thread, return to the new post button and that thread has vanished from the list. It's the same with starting a new thread, once it has been started you go to the new post button and it isn't showing until someone else posts on it.

I have never used the new posts button, I have always used the quick links button and then todays posts from the dropdown. there has been no change on that, which is why I was a little confused at first when this problem turned up.

OK, here's what we've worked out.

The "New Posts" link in the black navigation bar has indeed been "fixed" by the software creators in the latest version. It is now working as it had always intended to do apparently. They deem that if you created a post or thread then it means you have of course already read it so they do not see it as being "new" to you. Hence the reason it does not show in your new posts list.

However, we have added a work around in that the we have changed the action of the large "What's New" button near the top right to now show all recent activity, this will show yours and everyone else's recent posts which I hope does the job you are looking for.

Previously the button had the same action as the "New Posts" text link.

We've renamed the button to "recent posts" to help distinguish between the two functions.

This is pretty much all we can do unless we dig into the guts of the software.

    Hope it works for you.

Great, thanks for the alternative Gazza, seems to do the job O.K.
Just got to get used to going right now after years of turning left !
