Default Making it clearer that its free to join Ebid

One of the things I've come across lately is that people think they have to pay to 'join' Ebid. They don't of course, but it must be losing sales as potential buyers are not signing up. I'm sure if Ebid put a large banner on the home page highlighting the words 'free to join' and making it clearer that buyers pay nothing it would help.

It would help enormously if the registration page (https://www.ebid.net/uk/register/) gave the option to register a basic free Seller account rather than just Buyer and Seller Plus.

I'm sure many potential sellers are lost because it appears they have to pay up front before they can sell.

Sadly, I have given up trying to get eBid to fix that after many attempts. I have to assume that they are deliberately trying to push people to one of the subscription seller accounts and have no desire to make it easy for newcomers to find the free Seller option.

True I did look here before I joined Bonanza which I don't use anymore since its still US not UK as they claim

I actually did think I had to pay to start selling here, It was quite confusing when I first viewed site

Having a header saying Zero Fees to list will automatically get people to register, the upgrade to seller+ put me off straight away making me think I actually had to pay that to become a seller but I did come back after I read a review about how it works

Can't say I regret it - Still more sales than on EBAY and yet EBAY has taken about 6 times the amount in fees than here

I try to advertise the place but there's only so much you can do, they really want to entice newcomers to sell here and they will then upgrade if they find it good which I'm sure 99% of the time they will and at the moment people are screaming to leave EBAY for a better platform. Now is the time for advertising

But is there still the problem that new sellers who use the basic options then find they're being charged each time there's an auto-relist? I recall that used to catch people out and cause a lot of resentment.

I agree with this - but shouldn't this thread be on "Website Suggestions?"

Maybe. Or just anywhere that actually gets Gazza's attention?

Who are you agreeing with? Me or MJAUCTIONS?

If me, then I have raised the missing basic Seller option on the signup page several times - though without checking I'm not sure if I raised it on the bug or suggestions forum (though likely as a bug).

Never seen any interest by admin in correcting the ommission so have come to assume, as previously said, that it is a deliberate ploy on their part to push prospective sellers towards a paid subscription.

The basic Seller option did use to be on the signup page but vanished a couple of site revamps ago.

Interesting comments. I joined Ebid way way back when it was totally free and automatically got seller+. I thought everyone had to pay now days to join and sell, didn't realise there was a free option! My comment was actually regarding buyers, many of whom believe they have to pay to join.
