Default Authentication? I just want to get to my eBid section!

I keep getting some weird Microsoft message popping up on my screen when I try to get to My eBid area. I was going to pay a bill, and check on a bid, but I cannot access it. I also cannot get the Jing thing or print screen to work. Very frustrating.

Same here...apparently it doesn't happen with microsoft edge but I don't see why I should have to switch computers to use eBid.

No relistings or checking current listings until this is sorted.

I haven't changed anything............same computer, server, operator for the last number of years. No, I can't do anything here via My eBid until it is sorted. Not sure where the glitch came from, but this is the only site it shows on.

I've just encountered this myself after being logged in for about 2 hours.

I'm wondering if something has been hacked as it comes up as -
http://x.ebid.net is requesting your username and password. The site says: “Restricted Area”

And as far as i'm aware i've never seen the "x" before the ebid part of the name before.

When I click cancel I get moved to a new Tab page (401 Unathorized) saying the following -
This server could not verify that you are authorized to access the document requested. Either you supplied the wrong credentials (e.g., bad password), or your browser doesn't understand how to supply the credentials required.

I can Edit, I can create new listings, but whnever I click "My Ebid" I get the Authentication notice.

Sorry for the confusion...billsbooks said the notice doesn't come up on microsoft edge but I can only access that browser by digging out my laptop.

I almost always use my chromebook which only has chrome as a browser so I don't get any microsoft messages here (I can't use any microsoft products on the chromebook)

My post which you replied to was attempting to explain that I would have to use a second computer to check microsoft edge

I've just sent an email to support about it as I'm getting it too. I got this same message and drop down log in box about a week ago when the gallery photos wouldn't load and they had to do something to fix it.

Discovered you can get to your My eBid page if you Google the main site and go in from there, so you can check on your bid HerMajesty, but if you leave the page and then try to go back you get the drop down log in box thingy.

Thanks, Sarge. I though perhaps when royaltee complained, someone might notice. But I'm not so sure of that. However, when SARGE takes action, everyone can count on results!! xoxo

I needed to put a Holiday Notice on -

if I go from Forum > My eBid > My Notices from the drop down menu =

    Name: 2.png
Views: 47
Size: 2.4 KB
    Name: 1.png

Size: 7.9 KB

If I go from My eBid to My Notices from the fixed menu on left of Screen = Perfecto!

I wonder if it is anything to do with the new Windows 10 update. Apparently, Microsoft are updating to Windows 10S which will have limited access to browsers etc. I got the impression that they had not started this update yet but I did get a large update last night as I closed my computer.

I have found the following article in an email from Windows Secrets.

It only seems like 5 minutes ago that the Windows 10 Fall Creators Update was released. If you’re anything like me, you might only just have managed to iron out the problems it caused on your computer.

But Microsoft are relentless. They’re already hard at work on the next major update, known as the Spring Creators Update, believe it or not.

Microsoft have announced that the release for this update will be in spring but if they run into problems this could well be pushed back.

They’ve also announced a major change in the versions of Windows that are available.

A while ago they released a new version of Windows 10, called Windows 10 S. This was a stripped down version of the operating system aimed at schools. The key difference being that you could only install software from the Windows Store, and not traditional programs with a SETUP.EXE file.

Part of the problem is that Windows 10 S users are limited to using just the Edge browser.

This limitation has obviously put people off, since take up has been poor. And with so many different variants of Windows 10 out there, consumers are naturally confused.

But that isn’t stopping Microsoft. They obviously love the idea behind Windows 10 S, since it allows them to control everything on a PC. So, they’re bringing out a Windows 10 S mode for all Windows 10 versions.

This means that when you buy a new PC it will come with Windows 10 S installed. If you don’t like it, you’ll then be able to switch to a normal Windows 10 system, such as Home or Pro.

Microsoft claim that most users will probably stick with Windows 10 S because it's simpler to use. We’ll have to wait and see whether that is the case.

Whether this new Windows 10 S mode will be included in the Spring Update isn’t clear, but the suggestion from Microsoft is that it will.

So, you might be able to test Windows 10 S yourself. And, if you don't like its limitations, you can quickly switch back to your favourite Windows 10 version.
