Happy Re-Birthday To Me!!!

Today is my second re-birthday. It's a bit of a tradition among some people who have been brought back to life following a cardiac arrest. We announce our re-birthday on Facebook and this is usually followed by a flurry of posts from people who have been there.
We celebrate because not many people survive cardiac arrests as someone has to start CPR within 4 minutes for there to be a chance of being brought back without too much damage sustained.
Then there is the 'down time' which has a bearing on what to expect when someone wakes up. Scary ****....I'm just happy to still be here

It frightened the life out of everyone around me but I don't remember a thing.

I had been ill for a while with colds and stuff then my Billy called an ambulance when I collapsed at home.

I then walked to the ambulance then waited on a hospital trolley in a corridor for more than 12 hours while waiting for a bed in the assessment unit.

Then while I was in the unit I wen into cardiac arrest and had 3 lots of CPR before my heart started beating again.

I was rushed off to ICU where I spent several days in an induced coma.

I woke up and the last thing I remembered was a conversation with my upstairs neighbour on the day I went into hospital.

I must have been AWOL from here for a couple of weeks as NHS internet blocked ebid so I emailed Becky from my hospital bed and she started a thread letting everyone here know what went on.

Very happy re- birthday Moonie!

Mate of mine had a similar experience a few years back & now has a pace-maker fitted.
He's happy to be still vertical also!
I kid him about getting too near remote controls, or going through the metal detector at the airport!
