    Default Never knowingly undersold

I saw that on a wall in John Lewis for customers to read but it doesn’t make sense to me. Are they promising customers that they’ll never undersell their items?

There are terms and conditions but, if you can find the identical item for sale for less, they refund the difference - have done this for years

I was thinking about this earlier and think I get it now. Never knowingly undersold 'by our competitors'.

It seemed weird at first read, as it appeared that they were stating that they would not undersell their own products in general.

No. They are saying that they will not be undersold. There are terms and conditions as Madeleine says. For example a few years ago I bought a Kindle there rather than from Amazon at the same price. However, the JL warranty was twice that of Amazon themselves.
