Thread: Barbie advice, please.

  1. #1

    Default Barbie advice, please.

Firstly, I know that Barbie does not go down well in some quarters. I fail to see why. It is just a doll for heaven's sake!
Anyway......I would like to buy one for my great granddaughter's Xmas pressie - her mum has given permission

She is almost 4 years old, and I want to be sure that the Barbie I choose is easy to dress/undress, and that I can buy extra clothes to fit.

My First Barbie is ideal, but the postage from USA is prohibitive. So another model will have to do. Definitey not the 17" model which has no other clothes in the range - plus she is a bit scarey.

So... I should be grateful for some first hand advice - please don't Google, I have done that.

I can't advise on Barbie but knitted clothes are so much easier for small children to manage. Our son's first Action Man was bought naked and I dressed him in knitted stuff.

That was my thought also. But, I think when giving her the initial Barbie, something pretty/sparkly would be favourite After that, I shall get out the needles.

Yes, I have seen those. But I wanted recommendations from experience as some are going to be more suitable - ie easier to dress - than others.

That's probably fine - until he has to swim a river.

A little puzzling; would not he "go commando"?

There's loads of pretty sparkly knitting yarn!

On the Action Man point (which is off the point of this thread) - Action Man can do anything... except dress himself (the late, great, Dave Allen)

Thank you, Madelaine - I appreciate your input.

Rather disappointed with the lack of response to my original question which was a genuine request for assistance, especially as there is at least one member who is au fait with these dolls.

    Have now purchased.
