    Default Adverts!!

I usually use an adblocker, but to help eBid earn a few pennies I decided today to switch it off (only for here)

When I click on my link
    https://www.ebid.net/uk/users/Posbear/listings/

    All looks well here...

BUT, scroll down the page I get this..

It looks like I am selling dresses!! (I am not)
It's an offsite advert with a big Shop Now sign.
Would buyers click that link thinking that they were going to look at the dresses in my listings (please..I don't sell dresses )

I wonder how many potential buyers have been caught out and gone away from eBid and bought something?

All it needs is a thick line above the advert to seperate it, with a note that it is an advert.

Totally agree. They should be boxed out and clearly headed 'Advertisement' anywhere on the site.

I just finished checking on one of my stores. At the bottom of my stores front page is an ad touting Vietnam Veteran For Sale. Humm... I don't think we're worth very much since we're old, but not quite antique yet. However, I'd really prefer not to have ads taking people off site to try to buy one. Especially when they're looking in my shop window so-to-speak.

Come to think of it, I wonder how much they're asking for us these days? No one seemed to want us when we came home. Wonder what's changed? Frankly, I don't think I've improved much with age, but who knows?!

Actually, I wonder what that ad was really selling. Probably some sort of gear that hadn't been invented yet during the Vietnam War era.

JaBek, please don't put yourself down. You are worth much more than you think.
You did what you had to do, and came home. Hat's off to you, sir.
I do agree that these ads are really annoying and as astral says should be boxed out.

I commented on them sometime ago, what annoyed me was that when a potential buyer had landed on my listing, the first thing they would see was a listing for a similar item from a "known" name, thus tempting the person to click away from the site.

The response I got from admin was basically that I would have to live with it as they get paid for hosting them, and apparently have no control over their content. Although I find it strange that when I go to other sites I have never seen similar advertising, competing with their own product.

Surely ebid could still honour their part of the bargain and diminish them in size and prominence.
