Candles, once reserved only for power cuts, have become ever more popular in recent years.
Tea lights and scented candles have become essential to the stylish home.

However, researchers have found that the fumes from paraffin wax – the most common and cheapest form of candle wax – can be poisonous and even cause cancer. Did you know that there are up to 11 carcinogen compound (cancer causing agents) found in paraffin candles?
Don't risk your health and that of your loved ones - use soy wax candles.

The candle industry, is not regulated by the government. Candle manufacturers are not required to list or disclose hazardous, toxic or carcinogenic compounds used as ingredients in their products or even place warning labels on their products regarding lead content and emissions so reading the label might not help.

Don't despair - you can still enjoy candlelight knowing that you and your family are safe from toxins - you do have a choice though.
Beeswax or Soy.

Choose the latter, as beeswax involves cruelty to these much needed and essential little insects.
Beeswax should be avoided - here's why.
First, smoke is blown into the bees’ hives to make the bees easier to deal with. Next, a “bee brush” is used to crudely sweep away the bees who rush from the hive and succumb to the smoke. In sweeping them aside, the wire tines break off their legs and wings. Bee farmers then remove the honey and the honeycomb, that is just too cruel to comprehend.
