The links are both in red - which I think is what you want (though your post on the other thread does confuse me a bit).

Is the above what you are seeing - or have I gotten hold of the wrong end of the stick?
You've got the right end of the stick! LOL!! The experience was quite confusing to me too, as in the past I've just edited out what I didn't want and all reappeared as before - this time it changed and kind of threw me for a loop! If you go to that same listing, move your cursor across the lines starting with "Please check out my store. Only when the cursor hits the embedded links, does the script turn blue. So, only "by chance" would a viewer find the link.

"While I am not in favour of listings having the feel of a bad drug trip I do like a bit of colour." Neither am I and now that I see the portion of what you posted, the red is kind of like a slap in the face - needs to be changed to a less offensive color. It does puzzle me why those links stayed red and the others show up in black until the cursor hits them.

I'm in the process of opening more stores and would like to get this resolved before I do. The main edit I made in the above listing is to eliminate the link to books, as I've moved them all a new store and will eventually put links to my other stores in all listing descriptions when they are up and running. Right now I'm at a standstill..... 73 listings needing editing and reposting and 7 large totes of new items ready to list piled up in the office. I've got a path to my computer and just enough floor space for me to sit in my chair and the dog to lay on the floor - LOL!!!

Sorry, I'm getting more and more confused.

So it's not the 'here' links that you are having problems with (which is what I thought you were having issues with) but the links to your stores?

Assuming that and looking at listing https://www.ebid.net/uk/for-sale/tri...-164223239.htm ...

There is no colour defined for any of the store links in your description, so they take the colour defined by eBid for links on the site (which is #444444 - a very dark grey, almost black); there is a colour defined for the 'here' links - so they show red. I can't see that there is any colour change when the cursor hovers over the links - or even that eBid has an active hover colour defined.

I don't recall if the colour defined by eBid for links was different before the update, but if it was then all links that do not have a colour explicitly defined in the description will assume the new colour defined by eBid in the update.

I've duplicated your listing at https://www.ebid.net/uk/for-sale/tes...-164361228.htm and added the colour blue to the links, closed, edited and reposted a couple of times and the colour hasn't been removed.

Edited description code - if you want it:

I should probably also add that touch screen devices [e.g. tablets and mobiles] do not support the hover (mouseover) event; a link is either clicked or not clicked. That means to work across all devices you should not rely on the link changing colour under the cursor to be an indicator that it is a link. Probably why eBid do not have a hover colour defined for them.

My goodness, Astral - you have been busy, as have I. I did a quick pop in yesterday and it seems you have got the solution. The test listing looked exactly as the original was before the site change. I don't speak "html" very well, but I will take what you posted and play around with it and see if I can get it to work for me. Thanks so much for your time and efforts! Very much appreciated

"Funny" how things work out. I thought I had deleted that listing because it wasn't the way I wanted it to be, but if I had deleted it, you wouldn't have been able to help!

And in any case, relying on links changing colour on mouseover to signal their presence is a usability stupidity. One should not have to wave the mouse over everywhere on a page, just on the offchance that a link will show up!

    Nice detective work, Astral!

I wonder why eBid makes links dark grey. Once upon a time everyone using the web knew what a link looked like. It was BLUE. On EVERY page, on EVERY site. Then so-called web designers started thinking they could make their links look prettier. What would driving be like if every street used their own set of road signs?
