Thread: Unresponsive script

  1. #1

    Default Unresponsive script

    Hi Gazza and other members,

Yesterday I tried altering one of my listing (a trading card) as I noticed it no longer had a sub-category attached to it.

I had the main category of "Collectables", so when I went to select a sub-category it would go into unresponsive mode then throw up "Unresponsive Script" and ask me to stop, debug, or continue, with the following message.

    Script:chrome://global/content/bindings/text.xml:36

I've read a previous post about Chrome being awkward with some listings, but I don't use Chrome, I use Firefox.

    Can you help please.

    Jason

    This is still happening.

I've no idea how many days it's been doing this, but I know I first encountered it on Thursday.
I've tried circumventing this issue by starting a new listing from scratch, but I still get the same error when I get to selecting the Sub-Category.

I tried making a brand new listing via the category for "Books, Comics & Magazines", which lets me select a sub-category, and therfore works.

So I can only assume that there is a problem with selecting a sub-category for the main "Collectables" category.

Do you have any <script> tags in your description HTML?

Chrome has become quite strict with this and we are checking to see if we can get around it without the need to ban javascript from descriptions.

They said they are using Firefox not Chrome.

Interesting read on the Chrome XSS Auditor issue: https://www.phpclasses.org/blog/pack...TOR-Error.html

Well I really hope eBid don't bar javascript/jQuery in listings (what about eBid's own scripts on a page?) as that would be dumbing down to cater for Chrome's bugged auditor - which is starting to sound like Microsoft where you have to continually pander to and fight their crap software.

Just tried to duplicate your problem in the Collectables category using Firefox 55.0.3 (64-bit) under Windows 7 SP1 and had no problems selecting a subcategory from the dropdown list.

Have you tried starting Firefox in 'Safe Mode' (https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/kb...sing-safe-mode) to see if the problem goes away?

No I haven't. I have tried a making a completely new listing through "sell on eBid" using collectibles, where I get the "unresponsive script".
When I do the same for a completely new listing using Books, Comics & Magazines, there's no problems.

If by that you mean when I alter an existing listing, then yes.

But when I try to create a brand new listing via the "Sell on eBid" tab, I encounter the same problem for "Collectables", but not for "Books, Comics & Magazines".
