    Default UK Commemorative stamps

    Would you delete the sub-categories

    31190 Stamps Great Britain : Commemorative : 1960s
    31191 Stamps Great Britain : Commemorative : 1970s
    31192 Stamps Great Britain : Commemorative : 1980s
    31193 Stamps Great Britain : Commemorative : 1990s
    31194 Stamps Great Britain : Commemorative : 2000s
    31189 Stamps Great Britain : Commemorative : Pre-1960s

This is the kind of obsessive division that appeals to collectors. Buyer behaviour is quite different, they prefer to browse commemoratives across the decades because the chances are, they do not know what decade they are looking for, just something they do not have.

If you keep the sub-categories the number of stamps is likely to decrease because buyers will not be bothered to jump from one decade to another.

If you are not minded to delete the sub-categories, may I suggest you reinstate a general Stamps Great Britain : Commemorative : for buyers who want to buy and sellers who want to sell.

I also agree but see my comments in the other thread on this subject where I raised the problem in the first case. If the decade sub-categories are removed this will still leave the new Commemorative category. But most Commemorative listings are still in the two Elizabeth categories which was the correct category in which to list them before the new Commemorative category was foisted on us. This means that buyers still have to look in two places because most sellers will not move their listings to the new commemorative category.

I like the word foisted in this context.

I think my preferred sub cats for QEII GB would be £sd, decimal, postage dues, regionals - unless I've forgotten something?

    That works for me.

However, I would not use GB postage due in the Ebid categories; I use a subcategory in my Ebid shop for postage due. This way a buyer who is interested in postage due can jump to a list of postage due across all countries, that way I tend to sell many at a time.

I do not need a category for definitives as any definitive listing in GB will say Wilding or Machin in the description.

Most GB commemoratives will have a theme link as a subcategory in my Ebid shop, so, for example, GB Farnborough Air Show will be the same shop sub-category as airplanes for any country, so a buyer might buy Farnborough and lots of aircraft from other countries at the same time.
