Thread: Problems With Loading Photos To Gallery

  1. #31

Default Re: Problems With Loading Photos To Gallery

I uploaded some photos today, but it was slow going and iffy as to whether they were uploading or not. Finally, they showed up and I was able to list an item.

We've made a fix to the Advanced Uploader today which was not refreshing when used over the listing form.

If you're still having problems let us know the exact specifics of what's happening, how you are getting to that point, what you are seeing etc.

    Thanks,
    Gazza

The problem in relation to the start of this thread hasn't been addressed.

It is the Gallery images that are a problem where they have have been rotated prior to uploading. If you want to do a test: scan something upside down - rotate on your pc to the correct way up - then upload into eBid. Or do the same with portrait changing to landscape. The Gallery images will be upside down on upload but the main pic on the listing will be the correct way up.

This glitch appeared between 11pm on Friday 2nd June and 11am Saturday 3rd June.

The result of the above is this: http://www.ebid.net/uk/for-sale/the-aquarium-brighton-east-sussex-postcard-306-158111360.htm

So on that listing the gallery images are upside down as is the gallery image in the shop.

Could do with fixing as there will be quite a few who scan landscape and rotate to portrait prior to uploading.

    Hi Deano,

Thanks for the detail.. Are you saying it is still happening? How was the photo uploaded? Spreadsheet, website? Advanced or Basic uploader? etc

So it seems the problem is only with the "upload_small" version of the photo?

Are you able to email the original photo to me to support@ FAO:Gazza .. I'll try and find out how this happened.

    Thanks,

Yes still happening - have been testing every day (today at 16:31). The only difference since yesterday is the upside down image loads much quicker (which doesn't help).

Advanced uploader - although I have tried basic uploader some days ago with the same result. Yes the small photo's - so the two under the main pic are upside down as well as the image appearance in the shop plus on the main site when looking at list from searching or category browsing. Uploaded from a scan from my pc - scanned upside down (which is common when using a flat bed scanner) rotated on my pc to the right way up - uploaded to eBid which then turns it upside down. I did do a better example of a landscape to portrait version - but unfortunately that sold.

I am not sure sending the photo through will be any help - as it has been rotated on my pc and not yours and is not specific to one photo. There are other examples in the earlier pages of this thread, basically any image that has been rotated prior to uploading will revert to its original way up on upload for the small pics. Something happened in between those times I gave in the previous post to cause the glitch.

Hasn't really affected me - the glitch happened on the very last batch of pre-scanned items - so I have been scanning differently over the last 10 days. But the concern would arise for others and in particular newbies who end up giving up if they see uploads appearing the wrong way up.

    Hi Deano,

We've been doing some digging and have found a possible culprit in our recently updated image processing software we use.

If possible could you email me the original photo so we can test it with a pre-processed version.

    Many Thanks,
    Gazza

I have just tried uploading photos again and it all went smoothly for me using the simple form windows 10 and firefox. I have not had any problems with loading images the wrong way up just the speed.

    Thanks Gazza.

I'm not able to upload my gallery images to my listings.
It keeps me on my listing page even when I go to my gallery and try to use some images it won't let me scroll down the gallery page so I can choose an image.
The gallery page is frozen,I've contacted customer support but they can't give me an answer.
    Grrrrrrrrr!

Try clearing your cache and see if that fixes it.
