Default Strange Things Happening To Laptop & Printer/Scanner Since W10 Upgrade

Hi, I know this is a long shot but I will give it a try....

Up to last weekend my printer/scanner worked with no problems (last used on Sunday) . However since having the latest W10 "upgrades" forced on me (I had selected postpone until 28 May, but, got a confirmation) but still the download happened on Monday regardless when I tried to log out).

Tonight I used the printer (Epson XP-530) for the first time since. The printer operated via the USB cable with no problems.

Then came the bad news, I tried to scan something. And got the message that the laptop can't communicate with the scanner. I checked the scan settings as suggested, these looked okay XP-530 connected locally.

Pressed the button to test and got this response:
the scanner is not ready Interface: Not Connected Options: Unknown Firmware: Unknown.

The USB cable is still in situ from when I used the printer, it worked then and still does for the printer, so that is not the problem.

    Can anyone suggest anything please?

Thanks (Seriously pigged off at the minute as I intended to do large-scale scanning this weekend).

Since the Win10 upgrade I haven't been able to print anything as my PC thinks my printer is offline

Exactly the same problem. Can't see printer as online

I removed the printer driver and reinstalled the latest drive, so now it works again on network but takes 10 times as long as before to scan. Also connected directly with USB cable but still dreadfully slow. Printing at normal speed.

Eager to hear how to get back to the way it was before.

W10 says my wireless printer is not compatible with the laptop so I have to plug it in like a non-wireless and it works fine.

My laptop, which has not had the latest windows 10 update, still works fine as a wireless printer on my network!

Read user review that upgrade was mandatory. They had also stated that the upgrade seemed more like a downgrade.

How would you rate windows 10 to 7? Also can W10 user go back to version 7 and maintain warranty coverage?

I use a wi-fi printer so I can stay sitting in my chair while I am working.

I am unable to walk more than a few feet without having to rest so minimising getting up and down whenever I need to print is essential to my lifestyle

If you have not already tried it moonwitch, I would suggest trying a download of updated drivers from the manufacturer's website. It is fairly easy to do and work for me.

I had the same thing happen with my Brother printer. Their website said to uninstall the printer and software, download a new copy of the software and drivers and reinstall. That fixed it. Some older printer models have software built for older versions of Windows, and it has to be reinstalled in order for Windows to recognize the older drivers. Another, newer model Brother printer here didn't have any problem with any of the last Windows 10 updates.

I gave up and found a solution that will mean the whole household will be able to print from all our chrome based devices and our androids

I just spent £100 on a new cloud friendly printer

We all have Chromebooks and androids so I am happy
