Default Tesco plans could spell the end of the 5p carrier bag

Tesco is planning to end sales of so-called "single use" carriers all together, less than two years after the law was changed to force large stores to charge for them.

Once gone, customers who forget to bring their own bags will have to fork out 8p or 10p for a bag for life instead, said Tesco.

Some people can't walk as far as their local shops. Due to a serious heart condition I have my groceries delivered with the 5p carrier bags and I am unable to repeatedly pick up individual items to move them from the hall floor to my kitchen. While some delivery guys will help out...their job description says they only have to deliver the groceries to the property.

I don't think it is about how many will be affected who have home deliveries.

If my groceries come without bags I have to ring round Billy's relatives to come round to help me as he is unable to move the groceries either.

Last time I looked, grocery stores are among the businesses that are required by law to be disability friendly

Not everyone who has a disability can drive to use a disabled parking space...some of us (myself included) are housebound

my argument is about using global corporations including supermarkets i dont make it personal as you feel a need to do so, you also have not answered any of my questions, lets try another, if the supermarkets decided to stop home deliveries do you think small businesses would pick up on this opening? do you think all small businesses dont do home deliveries?

I can't answer your questions as I have no idea who the small companies are and there are none locally I would have to rely on family or move into a care home to make sure I was fed,

I was actually speaking from personal experience so wasn't going out of my way to avoid getting personal

MAKES you wonder what we did without tescos, thats right before they monopolised the market we had plenty of small shops, bread vans , grocery vans, butchers on bikes, thriving communities were every one talked and helped each other, now we have tescos were the sheep get dressed up to go shopping,

Those things you just listed that have mostly gone are possibly why people rely on the large supermarkets but they are people, not sheep.

I am now actually actively searching for supported accommodation for myself since it is likely I will need to move out of my flat within the next couple of years so that I don't need to personally rely on home deliveries.

I have told very few people on here why I need to think about this
