Default Buyer wants to withdraw a bid, can they?

Hi! What are the options for the seller if a potential buyer asks me to take away the their recent bid?

Obviously, you have to be willing. You can ask ebid support to cancel the bid or if you don't want to bother them you can add the buyer to your blackball list. You are then asked if you want to remove any bids. Say yes and it will be done. Just remember to remove the buyer from your list unless you are sure you want to block any future buying from you by this person.

If you cancel the sale, you will be charged a fvf. If you are OK with that then go ahead and cancel.

If you are not OK with being charged a fee for selling something that was not sold, then there are other options.

Allow the sale to complete; give buyer adequate time to make payment (I give 7 days usually); send buyer payment reminders (I send 3 during the 7 days); if buyer does not pay, I leave appropriate feedback, and mark them as "NPB" in the ASL (After Sale Log). Two days later, you will automatically be refunded. If you do not receive your refund after this cumbersome process, then contact support for assistance.

Are they really a 'potential buyer'? Or am I just being picky!

Meebo's advice sounds the best, it achieves what the careless bidder wants and it avoids you suffering fees. Letting the bid ride and sorting it out afterwards is likely to irritate the bidder who didn't get the hoped for cancellation, and, as Burgy says, is a cumbersome process. With a long delay too.

    Johnwash1,

In the case of a seller who does not want to cancel the bid (this is a seller's option)......

For the seller to avoid the fvf, they would need to contact support, ask them to cancel the bid at buyer's request, and also ask support to waive the fee. If a seller is not comfortable doing that, or they do not want "to bother support", then they will pay the fee.

The only other way to avoid the fee is the cumbersome process I described. BTW, the fee is removed relatively promptly after the process is completed.

Note: Most buyers I encounter use bin when they do not pay; or bid, say nothing, and then not pay. Have only had 1 buyer to bid and request to cancel. I canceled the bids as requested, but placed the buyer on my bb club list. I did this because I did not think this buyer had bid carelessly. I believed the buyer had done what they did intentionally. I was not interested in doing business with them again.

Meebo's advice is the best as the bid is removed before the sale completes and therefore doesn't incur a FVF

Does that mean a seller does not have the right on eBid to choose for a sale to be completed. If so, please direct me to that stated eBid policy.

I think you are very rude.

The seller asked "can the buyer do this"? The seller asked what we're their options? The seller's question about can this be done was not answered with a yes or no answer.

I have the right as an eBid member to express myself in these forums as much as anyone else. This attack game needs to stop, it reeks of the dark side forum environment.

the seller always has the choice, and the consequences.

remove a bid by blackballing and ticking the option remove bids/bid = no consequences

let the bid remain or BIN and not honour the sale, = consequences
