It is interesting, but shouldn't you ask permission before taking things away? I know it is put out as rubbish / trash, but I certainly would feel uncomfortable unless it said: if you want it, take it

Well I say good luck to him as he's keeping things out of landfill and saving some quite nice historical items. My only concern is if he can actually sell the stuff otherwise he might end up a hoarder like you see on the television programmes !

they all put there stuff out at the curbside on garbage night in Canada and everyone walks round to see what is on offer, i used to love walking round it's the done thing, well it was in Ontario and far better than having to pay for skips like we have to to take unwanted furniture away,

The rules about taking garbage may well be different in Canada.

Here in the UK, any trash, including anything in skips becomes the property of whoever the skip or bin belongs to.

If I saw skips about with stuff I wanted I would knock on doors until I found the person who dumped the stuff and asked their permission
