Thread: Russian Medals

  1. #1

    Default Russian Medals

    Hi,

Don't know if this is the right section but couldn't find anything more relevant...

    Anyway,

I have a USSR Medal and issue card or something with a persons details on. As you expect it's all in Russian, the dates are something about 40 years, and 1945 to 1985. Can't Google search as don't have Russian letters lol.

    Anybody any ideas?

    ~Cheers,.

    .

Have you tried on google ~ Russia 40 year medal?

    eg Jubilee Medal Russia
    Russian Convoy Medal

Try google images for Russian Medal 40 years & see if your medal is there....

If you can post a picture here of the lettering on the medal and issue card then it should be fairly easy for someone to translate for you.

A picture of the medal might help (though I can't translate, sometimes I, or someone else, can recognise it)

    Thanks for replies.

    Pics Uploaded.

think i've identified it as this:
    http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Jubilee...r_1941-1945%22

Had a look for them on TOS, they don't sell for much (millions were issued evidently) however the ones sold don't seem to have the issue card with someone details on them and stamped. Would that add to the value?

    Thanks

    .

Any form of provenance must add something to the value.

BTW pic size for Forum is best much reduced.....
I downsized the pics to between 400 and 500 using PicMonkey (free).

I believe it is The Russian Convoy Medal. It was awarded to British Veterans who served on Russian Convoys in WW2 by Russia to commemorate the 40th Anniversary of Victory.
