Not sure... it says you have 122 items listed, but when I try to see them there is no list. Which I can only take to mean that you don't sell to the US.... sorry, can't help.

    Hi and welcome to eBid.

Posted this to another thread, but it might be helpful here as well.

Some suggestions, if you haven't already tried them:

    1) Add a signature link to your posts, so members can click to view your listings.
    2) List as many items as you can; it's free to list and relist and the more items you list, the more potential sales.
    3) Use 7-10 day listings with auto repost to ensure your items move up searches.
    4) Let former customers from other sites know you're selling here.
    5) Use social networking (Twitter, Facebook, personal blog) to promote your listings.
    6) Use Plug Your Auctions on the forum (1x per 24 hours - delete old plug before adding new one) to promote your listings.
    7) Offer international shipping whenever possible to widen your potential customer base.
    8) Tell everyone you know and meet about eBid.
    9) Buy a few inexpensive items to increase your feedback and support the site.
    10) Get involved in eBid activities, as the monthly YDC charity auctions, if you're so inclined; it's a great way to raise monies for good causes and it helps raise your profile in the eBid community.
    11) Check out the Help videos and read Astral's FAQs page, lots of good info. in both places.

    Oh and have fun.

Best wishes for many sales to all,

I have picked out one of your item titles (see below)
Is almost famous a style name for the designer?
If not then almost famous are bad keywords.

Also commas & full stops are a waste, good keywords need to be added.
Notice you sell denim shorts & jeans why not add denim as a keyword?.

    Childrens clothing you have 4/5
Why not add 4 to 5 Yrs with the chest, waist sizes as not all children are the same sizing for their years?.
Some 4 Yr olds may fit into a 6yr olds clothing.

    Lg change to Size Large.
Add New with tags to the titles if appropriate.

Add more to your descriptions e.g size colour condition etc

You are in the same boat as the larger majority of sellers on eBid. Sales are few and far between for most of us regardless of what we do.

I have unfortunately had to start listing Star Wars action figures on eBay again after leaving there nearly 7 years ago as I am attempting to build the online side of my business now the economy is looking a little better but with very limited financial resources so I need the online sales but I am just not getting them on eBid as regularly as I would like quite simply because of eBid's lack of real advertising and I have limited lines available so there's less search engine scope for me and despite having 100s of Star Wars figures available, parents and collectors alike are still oblivious to eBid's existence and they always head straight to eBay or Amazon and do internal searches there so they never see my listings via external searches via places like bing or normal google.

And these very parents and collectors are oblivious to eBid's presence on social media because eBid do not pay to promote themselves on places like Facebook, which can be really cheap as you can set your daily budget as low as £1.00 per day for whatever amount of days you want your ads up for, or, Twitter, which is more expensive for the same kind of thing which is far cheaper on Facebook.

I need to stock at least another 15 lines but I am unable to at the moment although I am trying despite limited financial resources and I am now stocking the ever-popular Pop! Vinyl figures yet not sold a single one on eBid.

The crazy thing is, I searched through my stock lists and compared prices of specific Star Wars 3.75 inch action figures on eBay and most of them were £15 with shipping or at least £3.49 (£3.99 for most though) or £15 + free shipping which does not really save you any money when you're paying an average of £13.00+ per figure you want so you do not save on postage or on product price, or other figures were £19.99 with free shipping or shipping of at least £3.49 again.

So I saw that the Vintage Collection Darth Maul figure was £19.99 pretty much with all sellers on eBay and I have plenty of stock of him on eBid, so I listed one on eBay for £12.99 + £3.49 shipping and that prompted someone to visit me on eBid and buy that very figure along with just under £50.00 worth of other figures too - first sale on eBid in 3 weeks or around that! And they saw what I had wrote in the item description in my eBay listing as well which promoted them to come to me on eBid and make real savings.

But my sales are going better on eBay sadly. My most recent sales are a 6" Boba Fett figure for £32.99 + £3.49 shipping when I have it on eBid for £24.99 + £3.49 shipping - most sellers are asking £39.99 for this figure + free shipping, another seller at £34.99 + £3.90 shipping. Someone is even asking £79.99 + £4.15 postage for this figure on eBay haha. Considering that they have it listed at three times the original RRP you'd think they'd offer free shipping lol.

Another sale was a Black Series Starkiller figure for £12.99 plus shipping to Belgium when that figure is £10.99 with us on eBid.

I feel it is important to compare your items on eBid with the same items on eBay (where you can that is). You need to remember that sellers on eBay or even Amazon are your competitors. I feel it is important to have a presence on eBay while primarily being on eBid full time. If you have multiples of something then list them on eBay and eBid, have prices higher on eBay than on eBid. Just mention things like your product and shipping prices are cheaper at your primary location on another auction site. Include your facebook/twitter information on eBay listings. However, at the end of the day, If people choose to pay the higher prices with you on eBay than shop with you on eBid then that is their choice.

It's like shoppers do not trust anything outside of eBay or Amazon and are willing to pay more for something from eBay or Amazon than come to eBid and get it cheaper haha.

I just do not understand the mind-set of shoppers sometimes, especially Star Wars collectors, but a lot of them are too lazy to shop around for better prices or find special offers. I find it even funnier that my competitors on eBay will have a "sale" on selected Star Wars figures yet their "sale price" is still higher than my prices on eBid when I am at proper RRP on the larger majority of items lol!

I am not paying for a shop subscription on eBay either. I am just listing a handful of items each month on there so I can keep the fees down to under £15.00 per month. I'm being very selective on what I list on eBay while doing what I can via those listings to prompt people to shop with us on eBid as well as promoting myself with Star Wars collector aimed advertising on Facebook which I will be doing once or twice per month at £8-£10 per time.

eBid needs to do more to get itself out there and build consumer confidence among shoppers with eBid but we have more chance of finding life on Mars or a moon around Jupiter or Saturn!

    @ Rokin's Toys
I read your Post on ways to promote ebid, however I couldn't make a comment as it is a "Closed Thread"
I too have a FB page for my store, but I don't pay to promote on FB since every post I make is something that will turn up in a search. This may only have brought me just over 60 page likes in a year, but I have other methods to promote my shop, such as Flyers, Business cards, Friends/Family, as well as liking other FB pages (mostly related to what I sell). I do have my own website at the moment, but am currently in the process of moving everything over here as the Digital Footfall isn't that briliant.
As for Ebid promoting themselves, that would be awsome, however I completely understand that all the fee's etc.. you save here that would be charged on the Dark Site should give you plenty of ability to promote one's own shop, which in turn helps other stores on here.
So in other words, if we all do a little promoting ourselves, we keep the fee's/shop costs here low and help bring people here.
And as for the mentality of the general populace who shop at the Dark Site, it will take many years for them to change their habits unless the Dark Site keeps pushing up Fee's and making it Rule complicated.
Anyway, good luck to you and everyone else on here on increasing sales and bringing in more customers

    Rokin's

There's a Star Wars conference on in Rochdale Saturday, been wondering if there's a way to get eBid some publicity there. If I had the stock I might even have got a stall at £50.

Sadly with regards to mentality Rokin's is right. Buyers know that they can go to eBay or Amazon and get what they want, little realising that if it is available on eBid there is a great chance it will be cheaper. But every buyer we can entice over here is one more who might at least think twice next time, but the real sales will only come when the average buyer realises that there are other places to buy from.

    @BigKidsAttic

When you look at what I am selling and at what price for and compared to the prices on eBay for the same items, you would assume I must be making a good 5 sales per day or at least 30 sales per month which would enable me in a short few months to really grow my business online via eBid and expand into 20+ toy lines to sell on eBid, but sadly I am not, it is just not happening.

Focusing solely on the Star Wars figure lines as an example, I'm asking between £5.99 to £10.99 for figures that are selling daily for much higher than original RRP's with sellers on eBay. Sadly I am bottoming out with a handful of sales every 3-5 weeks.

I am primary market, I am not second hand. I am selling brand new items direct from manufacturer or approved distributors. I am a proper business and I do have different needs to the non-business sellers who will be selling second hand and unwanted items etc.

I even had a banner up on Jedi News which delivered nothing for me at a cost of £70 per month and I ran it for two months before asking them to take it down yet four months later they still have my banner up and it is still not doing anything for my sales lol oh how the mind boggles on that one And no, they cannot legally make me pay for it either as it is their mistake in not taking it down when requested. they have my request to take the banner down in writing.

I know I am not doing anything wrong. I am doing the best I can with limited resources. I know my product and shipping prices are more than fair and more than competitive compared to the same items that are over priced on eBay and even Amazon.

Why are shoppers reluctant to shop here? What is putting them off? Why would they rather pay a higher price for something elsewhere than get it cheaper on eBid? Why is that some eBid sellers still have a presence on eBay and they price their items cheaper on eBid than their prices on eBay yet regular customers they have would still rather pay the higher prices with those sellers on eBay than get them at cheaper prices on eBid with the same seller? It all comes down to shopper trust and confidence in eBid and eBid is not doing anything to build that trust and confidence.

eBid relies far too heavily on free marketing which reaches a miniscule amount of people and via social media so I looked at eBid on all their social media sites, FB, twitter, google+, pinterest, youtube, etc. and I added up how many followers they have in total across all mediums and you know what I found?

eBid has very few followers across all their social media accounts and the majority of the followers are the very sellers themselves anyway so when eBid does post something on social media they tend to only be promoting to existing eBid sellers so they are not reaching out to new potential shoppers like paying to advertise on FB would do. eBid has 15k likes on FB and I follow eBid on FB yet I very rarely see them post anything on FB and even when they do post anything on FB it is only reaching past and present eBid sellers lol. And as for those 15k likes? It is 10+ years of building those likes which again are mainly past and present sellers.

eBid does zero paid for advertising on FB or Twitter which combined per year would still be far cheaper than what they spend on google shopping and reach far more potential shoppers than google shopping.

I know my listings show up in bing and normal google searches. I know my listings posted to FB will show up in bing and normal google searches - but what a lot of sellers and eBid still fail to understand even after all this time is that most people searching for something head straight to eBay or Amazon first, do internal searches there and obviously find what they are looking for 99.99% of the time so they never see your listings or social media posts.

This contributes to sales being very few and far between for the majority of sellers on eBid especially those who barely have 5 sales in 6 months! What also contributes to sales being very few and far between for the larger majority of sellers is eBid's lack of advertising which would build the very trust and confidence that shoppers currently for some reason just do not have in eBid as market place - shoppers are very reluctant to trust something they have never heard of and do not see advertising on a regular basis and that comes down to mentality of shoppers again.

It doesn't matter if you have 100% positive feedback either. I have 100% positive feedback. My feedback score does not even represent my actual sales on eBid because in nearly 7 years I have had approx. 3,000 sales which may look good, but when you break it down week by week, month by month, those sales are actually pretty awful when I am going 3+ weeks with no sales then just a handful of sales then another 3+ weeks with no sales and so on.

As for my Facebook advertising thread - it is there solely for information and demonstration purposes for those who may wish to choose to pay to advertise their eBid store or FB page for their store on Facebook and it does not require commenting on or endless pointless debating lol
