Default HP Deskjet Printer 970C Series V Laser Printer

    HP Deskjet Printer 970C Series

Now to me this only tells me the make.

    My problem.

I got my Son,who live in Canada, to build a new computer with Windows 8

But there is nowhere on the back I can attach the old printer.

On the new computer there is only small slots, and my printer has a plug with tiny prongs.

My Son advised me to buy a laser printer, but my old printer worked fine on my old computer.

    Help in plain speak please.

    Thanks in advance

    .....
Sounds like you have usb slots on your pute with parallel port plugs on your printer.Have a look at this page & see if they look similar. If so search for an adapter to combine the two.

Yes, you should just need adapter/different cord. Check your old printer you may be able to just buy a new cord USB.

Having upgraded from Vista to Windows 7 not long ago I would suggest that your first task should be to establish that your old printer is compatible for W8; and download the relevant drivers for it.
