eBid Auction Site Launches Mobile Apps
    By Ina Steiner

Online auction site eBid.net has launched a mobile app for buyers and sellers. eBid co-founder Gary Sewell said the new mobile apps for both Apple and Android users offer users a convenient way to buy and sell in over 20 countries worldwide. "The convenience of browsing and shopping from just about anywhere opens up a huge new market of potential buyers and sellers which we are very excited about for both the near and far futures."

Founded in the UK in 1999, eBid.net offers a variety of listing formats. Sellers who wish to use the mobile apps to list items can add a title, price and photo, list the item and it will be placed up for sale.

The official eBid iOS App is available in the Apple App Store. It is optimized for iPhone and iPod but is fully compatible with iPads as well.

The official eBid Android App is also now available in the Google Play Store for Android. Optimized for phones, it is also fully compatible with tablets.

Sellers had been requesting mobile apps for eBid for some time, a fact mentioned by some sellers commenting in the Sellers Choice Awards just last month - "The lack of the mobile/tablet apps which if they were introduced would increase my sales significantly," said one eBid seller.

eBid also launched a blog in January and has been working to expand its presence on social media sites.

Great that news of the app is being spread. Now all we need is the API.

Or Gazza to say that they want to do an API and put it on their To Do List.

They have an api now as it is required for the apps to access their site, they have just not made a public release of it for developers.

    OK
So all we need now is for Gazza to announce if they plan to make API details public.

I still do not understand why we need an API. Perhaps eBid do not want to lose control.

I am not the best person to answer this..... but:

Some sellers would require an API to enable them to list here, so just one example:

A seller of batteries with multiple 1,000's of listings across different platforms on the net. Their stock levels would change dramatically over the course of minutes/hours/days etc.. An eBid API would allow them to integrate their stock levels on an automated basis, just as the API's provided by other sites enable them to list there.

With an eBid API it would make no sense for a big seller not to list here. £50 lifetime fee - free shops - no listing costs and cheap FVF would make it a no brainer for a large seller. It is also an area where eBid could directly target sellers - I could envisage that a correctly worded targeted e-mail to 10 large sellers could bring a return of at least 5 x SELLER+ accounts, total £250.00. Let's face it - for a large seller £50 is of no consequence whatsoever. So eBid would have an easy increase in revenue and listings . The seller would have a platform that provides them almost zero cost when compared to other sites = win win situation for all.

So it is bound to happen eventually.
