The title say's it all really. My favourite is Stephen King's The Shining. Not only because it's a darn good read but when it was first issued, there's was a lot of cr*p going on in my life and this book was the place I found to get away from it for a time.

I don't think I've got a favourite book.I have favourite authors & series by those authors.
Stephen Leather is a good example for me.I love the Dan Shepherd series but not Jack Nightingale.
James Pattersons books involving Michael Bennett & Alex Cross & the Private organisation I can handle, others just can't get a grip with.
I've recently discovered CJ Box & his character Joe Pickett, not read any others yet.
Of course,we can't forget Lee Child & Jack Reacher!

My all time favourite book would have to be The English Patient by Michael Ondaatje.

Followed by: An Evil Cradling by Brian Keenan.

    And then anything written by:

    Jo Nesbo
    Stieg Larsson

Mine is a German book: Mein Urgroßvater und ich by James Krüss. It's really a children's book, but then maybe I am still a child

Lord of the Rings. and the film was pretty good too. Went to see all 3 at the pictures one after the other, bum was aching a bit by the end but it was well worth it.

My all time favourite is probably "UBIK" by Phillip K.Dick, sadly I never seem to be able to hold on to a copy every time I get one I end up lending it out and it never comes back?
A close second would be "1984" by George Orwell it totally changed my outlook on life. it was a little like being slapped around the cheeks with a sopping wet Trout, or maybe being stamped on with a large boot?
