    Default Finding an ISBN?

Hi, I am currently documenting the items that I intend selling on eBid. However I have found one book that is presenting a problem - it has no ISBN listed on it. It is a hardback minus it's dust cover (which probably had the relevant info).

It has the initials BCA on the spine and the title page. (After googling BCA and books I am assuming that this refers to an organisation call Book Club Associates.

Does anyone know the story behind this? As most (if not all) the books I have seen have the ISBN printed both on the inside and outside covers.

The problem I have is that apparently without an ISBN I will not be able to submit it to google shopping.

    Thanks for any help.

Type in bookfinder into google and the first result should be the bookfinder search facility. Type in the name of the author and the book, select the right edition and it will tell you the ISBN.

    However..........

The vast majority of BCA editions will not have an ISBN. So in all probability you will have to type EXEMPT into where you would put the ISBN.

You have another problem with BCA

They are much lower in value than a regular book with ISBN, and they are heavier type books so expensive to post.

So, 10p in a charity shop versus £2.80 online?

I put BCA books through my shredder and use them as mulch on my rhubarb.

BCA books have a c number. C then 4 or 6 numerals. BCA books do not have an isbn. As Bill says you would be as well giving it to a charity shop as no-one buys these editions

Thanks for your help with this. I think I will list the book regardless; as I might find someone who thought (as I did) that sounds a good book I'll give it a try. After all it will not cost much to list it.
