    Default Stamp Query

I have acquired a mass of stamps recently; busy sorting/researching them for sale on here quite soon. This one below eludes me as to what country it is from ; part of a lovely set of sporting events and dated 1965 - can anyone help with the country please?

    Many thanks in advance

20sent06, I hope you don't mind if I ask another stamp question on your thread :-)

We inherited an accumulation of stamps and I'm trying to learn. To be honest, I find it all quite interesting. More interesting than I thought I would. :-)

    Anyway ....

I have Scott's catalogue on CD. Is there some kind of on-line resource cross-referencing Scott and Stanley Gibbons numbers?

Thanks too to you - and well spotted - the Scott Catalogue is American - does it matter?

Not heard of one - I wish there was + one that translates into Yvert as well!

You'll find that collectors prefer catalogues from their own countries:-

    Britain - Stanley Gibbons
    USA - Scott
    Germany - Michel
    France - Yvert

The main country catalogues have varying amounts of information about the stamps in their catalogues and of course the stamps are priced in a currency that is familiar to the collector.

I find that Michel catalogues have more detail about the stamps than Stanley Gibbons but then I have to try and work out the German description!

I do hope you both catch the stamp bug

    中国人民共和国

Just remember the symbol for China the square with a line through the middle

and the symbol for people with the two legs

So Peoples' Republic of China has China and People 中国人民共和国

But Taiwan, is merely the Republic of China and has no 人 such as 中华民国 or 国民华中
