Trish - sounds like you need a Spanish holiday!
Yes, that one's a bravado thing for sure as there's an alternate easier crossing (the one I'd take)
It's a creek crossing worn to that extent from use over the years & a "right of passage" for some (the foolhardy IMHO)
It would just get washed out again if filled.
PS. This is in crocodile country also! so I won't be paddling in any creeks either!

Having a break from YDC totals and catching up on peoples posts.

Trish I'm always losing my specs, like you I have different ones for different uses and more often than not the ones I'm looking for are on my head !

Reading about potholes and holes in general reminded me of this tune

So now i'm listening to some old comedy songs.

    G'day all

Gotta love 'ol Charlie Drake (although not PC these days)
    I love Ernie

Had a quiet weekend - cleaning house - as I'm possibly getting visitors shortly for a short stay!
That is - my 92 years young Aunt & her youngest daughter from far north Qld, who are coming down to go to a 90th birthday party of another Aunt - it'll be a real knees up for sure! Dueling wheelie walkers at 10 pacers - hahahahaha!!!

Here's a choon I've discovered recently on a Pigram Brothers album - given my interest in slide, this is a winner.

I Had 3 goblins this afternoon. A kitten, Spiderman, and a lion. Spiderman said he wanted candy, I said I don't have any what do we do now? I know their parents and Mom was with them and I had fresh baked peanut butter chocolate chunk cookies for them. That was satisfactory to Spidey.

Missy On had a finicky eater spell this week, but she is eating her dry food so not much to worry about. Ah, my sweet little girl, keeps me on my toes.

"The sky is blue, the grass is green, may we have our Halloween?" Dr. Mallard, NCIS.

Either been busy or completely lazy here, no middle ground this week.

    Hi everyone!
Sooo glad today is over, I had my hospital check up with the consultant who looked after me when I was in hospital.
I have worried myself so much, couldn't sleep - so afraid that they would put me back in the hospital ward AKA God's waiting room, but I'm OK! Yayyy! Whoop-whoop!

Had loads of tests done, we were there for ages, good ole JR was so supportive (as he always is).
I give all the nursing staff and my consultant 10/10 for their support, care and advice on how to cope in the future with this bronchiectasis. Apart from having to go for physio, I'm hospital free for four months, when I shall be called for my next assessment.
I reckon a celebration is in order!

Had a busy weekend as my son and my little granddaughters came to stay with us. I babysat the little ones whilst dad and son had a night out together, which I was so pleased about as poor old Dom has been through so much lately, with his marriage on the rocks.

Old, wow! 92 yr young aunt and daughter coming to visit - Oh boy! I guess karaoke and drinking games were not on the list of amusements - although I dunno, 90's are the new 70's so playing Twister and balloon wars could well be on the cards!

Loved all the comedy songs - they sure don't make 'em like that anymore!
Here's a couple that are quite amusing!

We had loads of trick or treaters last night, was lovely to see all the costumes. Wyo, your treats of fresh baked peanut butter chocolate chunk cookies sounds amazing - don't suppose you have any left over to share?
As for Missy O being finicky, Reina is the same - sooo fussy, whereas my Kaiser would eat anything - we called him Kaiser Pig ... although we shortened it to Pig Pig, which he answered to.
    So did JR - lol!

    OK, so where are y'all?
Watching TV, hibernating, up to no good .....or stuck in a pothole perhaps? I'll talk to myself then!

I had an email today telling me that my son was dead excited that he had found a lovely house to move into, and he turned up with deposit etc.
The owners rejected him on the grounds that he had children (for weekends only) although it didn't state no kids in the ad.
He is gutted, but has searched for other accommodation and is going to view another property tomorrow.
Fingers/toes/eyeballs crossed for him (as our Sues used to say!) Sooo miss her

On a brighter note, looking forward to this weekend, we are having a fireworks/ bonfire/ barbecue here in the back garden.
All the clan Richardson are attending, all bringing fireworks - we shall be providing the food and booze!
We haven't had a bonfire/fireworks night since the kids were little, so I'm over the moon that the tradition is being carried on.
Just hope that it doesn't rain!

Hello all! This week was 2 days of work due to upcoming vacation! Whew!

It turned out to be a very productive week. Monday got some washing done and rearranged the kitchen somewhat due to new toaster oven in need of a home, Tuesday went to the big city and got McAngus (New Ute) some license plates and some groceries, Wednesday - Hmmmmm! Housework, I guess, I know I did something. Thursday & Friday computer work. Tomorrow I plan to rearrange my drawers.

McAngus has glass pack mufflers (cool sound) but he's kind of loud. There is another truck in town with the same, only he chooses to drive around and rev up the engine at 12 am. Grrrrrr!

The weather has been bit cooler, but still in the 60's.

Feeling a little more "human" today so I thought I'd get caught up on posts.

TRISH - glad you find my posts "entertaining". My day is not wasted if I can bring a smile to someone's face - even if I can't see it - lol!!!

I loved your post on the 27th - must have been "something in the air" as I thought all day Thursday that it was Friday too! As if time doesn't fly fast enough, we seem to want to hurry it on! And I do things like the shampoo/conditioner too - so glad to know I'm not the only one

And more gorgeous bird pics from OLD!!! How about you send some of them up here. Tell them they will be well fed and taken care of

I hear ya on the crocs! So glad we don't have any up here, as canoeing on the river is something I love to do. We did have about a 6 ft. alligator found in one of the creeks here in the county, but most likely it was turned loose by somebody who got a baby, thinking it would make a cool pet. SMH!!!

I hope you had a good visit with the aunts

WYO - No "middle ground" here either

After 2 weeks of road crews tearing up the tar & chip and filling in with chert in preparation for a "properly paved road" next spring, the power company came through clearing their right of way. Wasn't so bad when they were up or down the road but they spent one whole day here on my place trimming trees and cut down 3 100+ footers. The tops & limbs that they could put through their chipper they did but that things was noisy as all get out - glad I had ear plugs!! My yard area is a mess from all the debris and I've now got 3 - 50 ft trunks laying in my yard! They cut them out of a small grove of cedars and fortunately didn't do much damage to the cedars but when I found out they were going to leave them IN the cedar grove, I had to pitch a fit! When I asked why, they said they had no way to move them out so I had to explain how to use the cable & winch to drag them - "Well, we wouldn't want to tear up your grass." SERIOUSLY???? Like anybody in the country can have a nice "lawn" when there's so much weed seed blowing around and you don't use chemicals on your yard when you have free range chickens. Of course, they probably didn't see the chickens, as they all took to the woods when all the equipment started arriving.

Fortunately this is "logging country" and I know a few loggers. One will be coming sometime to cut & haul the logs away and have them turned into railroad ties, which I should actually make enough money off of to go get a load of hickory from the handle mill, the next road over, to burn in the fireplace this winter.

I lost my young Rottie in July to Chron's disease and a week ago I lost the Old Man. He had turned 17 in Sept and I know that is a long time to have a Rottie, but I had him so long that just can't stop looking for him every time I go outside and he's not there.

Tomorrow is the first day of a new week - hopefully one that is better than this past week!

Y'all take care!! I'd love to "lose myself" in that jar of Apple Pie, but there's work to be done so I'd best get moving.

    Shes

G'day all Startin' to warm up here with 31c today & was 34-5c last Saturday - it's nearly air-con time!

Had a great 90's party fest yesterday, although I had to do a lot of K's on the round trip.
But hey, you don't get to go to too many 90th birthday parties ever eh?
Actually there were 4 other 90+ guests, VIPs all. There were over 100 family & friends, & everyone was well fed & watered, & had a good time.
The birthday girl wore a Tiaria, because she is the same age & shares her big day with Her Majesty & we all call her "The Queen"

WYO - I bet the "Ute" sounds as good as it looks!

Shesa - It's always tough losing pets, especially one that's been a part of the family for so long.
Our last two (cats) were sisters from a litter born in the house, & finally had to be put down when they were 23 & 24.
I swore NO more pets for me after that.

OK - so following, is a little story currently doing the rounds of social media you may/may not like to see - SO - anyone not liking SPIDERS had better not read on!
Extract on the story on this spider found here in Qld. recently: Appears to be on the head of a house broom

Photos of a monster huntsman spider in Queensland are going viral on social media.
The spider, known as Charlotte, has been living at an animal rescue farm in Queensland.
The picture, which would be an arachnophobe's worst nightmare, was taken in October last year and has remerged on Facebook.
Charlotte was described as a 'beautiful, calm spider' and 'not aggressive in any way.'
'Like most spiders she just wanted to go about her business eating bugs and living in peace,' the rescue organisation wrote on Facebook.
