Yes, I know it's an old thread, but still think this would be a great idea!

eBid, please consider allowing charity listings to have a free 2nd category.

The whole idea of having 'Charity' as a separate category is nuts to start with, so asking for the option of using its sub-cat as a free 2nd category is solving the wrong problem.

Sorry, before I go further, I should say that the one exception is the Charity/YDC section that runs every month, that's a fine idea.

Other sites don't do this, and there's an obvious reason why. Instead of duplicating the whole category system under a 'Charity' heading, the way to do it is to allow the seller to choose to donate a percentage of the revenue to their chosen charity and to have this flagged in some way. For example, elsewhere, if I'm searching for something I need, and I see two items listed at a similar price and one has a 'charity' ribbon alongside it, guess which one I'm going to buy!

Can't we have this same scheme here?

And, since this thread was started a mere 7 years ago and still has no comment from the Powers That Be, could it be too much to hope that Gazza drops by some time in the next 7 years? Even saying this is too hard to implement, or we don't see this as useful, or we'd like to do it but we're too busy... anything at all would give hope that this discussion isn't utterly pointless.

Don't worry folks, in 2019 I'll be along with ideas you'll think really stoopid!

The only time my items go into the charity category is YDC. I have stores in that category - but only the ones without a defined category of items. My money and postcard stores are in the appropriate category - as who will find them and buy anything in the charity category?

I like the idea of a charity listing marker but don't hold your breath.
