  • 2014 eBid Year in Review

Gazza highlighted a number of exciting new developments on the Bid site that are in store for 2015 in last month’s newsletter.

As we kick-off 2015, let’s take a look back at some of the changes made in 2014, and the positive impacts they have had on the eBid site.

February saw the launch of the eBid mobile app. This has been hugely popular and we are currently working on the eBid Mobile App v2 with improvements. Not yet using the App?* It’s available in the Apple App Store.

February also saw the launch of the Official eBid Blog. *Nearly one year on, our Blog is developing nicely and is a great source of eBid news, 'how to' articles, tips & hints, and so much more.

March saw the roll-out of the Android App. Both this and the (Apple) eBid App are optimised for phones but fully operational on tablets also.* Without a doubt, the introduction of the Apps has made life easier for both Buyers and Sellers.

July saw the limited introduction of the eBid API with an invite to interested Members to participate in the vital Beta testing phase.

We also made improvements to the photos you upload to the eBid site by increasing the jpeg quality and the maximum dimension that we resize images down to. A ‘small thing’ but valuable in the improvement of picture quality on the site.

In August we stepped up the API development for the site and the API was live, in Beta, and available to interested developers. We now have around 30 users testing it and a large number of listings live on the site that were starting using the API. The eBid API will be coming out of BETA soon – in the meantime, contact us via the website for access if you would like to give it a try.

In September, we took a big step towards ‘global presence’ with the introduction of Seller facilities on our European, Asian, North American, South American, African and Oceania sites. It is a big world and no*matter where you are, eBid is also there.

October saw the introduction of ‘eBid Lists’. A useful addition which allows Members to create an ‘eBid List’. These can be kept private for your own use, or made public in the form of a ‘Collection’ which is shown around the site – great for helping to promote groups of items, or things that interest you.

November was the first month for our new ‘Require Immediate Payment’ option. Initial results were very promising with those sellers who have elected to use this option having their non-paying bidder numbers eradicated. If your items for sale have attracted NPBs before, why not give it a go?

Throughout 2014 we continued to improve our presence on various social media sites and we now have a strong presence on Pinterest, Google+, Facebook and Twitter. 2015 will see further developments in our social media ‘journey’.

We have highlighted just a few of the changes made in 2014, but you can keep up with all developments on the site on our dedicated Forum thread.

Many thanks to all the eBid community who have invested their time and energy into building eBid and have ultimately allowed us to continue to make additions and improvements to the site.

    Roll on 2015 with eBid!
