See http://www.taxdisc.direct.gov.uk/Evl...d=Declare+SORN
Though if you are selling it it may be worth retaxing it and factoring the cost into the selling price. Otherwise how is the buyer legally to take it away (assuming they intend to drive the car away)?
I'd tax it. The procedure for recording it as not on the road is more complicated than taxing it, and it might put off buyers if it's not taxed. You can't just leave it, that's illegal. You can just do it for six months (or you could last time I checked!)
Hiya
You don't have to tax it if it is on your drive
So, it is probably wise to send a SORN to the DVLA.
You could come unstuck though, if someone wants to take it for a test drive If the wheels touch a public road, it has to be taxed!
I think it's called between a rock and a hard place

You will have to either tax it or SORN it. If you don't do one of these things you will receive an automatic fine.
I would tax it. You can do it online if all your pw is in order. Just add to the price of the car what the tax costs - youll probably find it will sell better with current tax anyway - one less thing for the buyer to worry about.
To SORN it is easy enough - you can do that online too, but it might make things messy if you want to sell it straight away.
Sorn it if not in use. It is ok and the drive but NOT ON THE ROAD. Make sure the new owner signs a receipt saying that they take responsibility for removing it in a lawful manner, and that is done!
Drive it and it will get crushed after 14 days/you paying £105 release fee plus retaxing.
