yes you get a sense of what they are going to do,
i have a water spray which i use when they all start barking if someone comes to the door it seems to work i also click my fingers a lot and point must learn to growl
we have not had any from puppies so they have been housetrained
alfie the yorkie was a dirty boy you came down in the morning and their was loads of little offerings he would go for a walk and still do one when he got back, he know scratches to go out and its only occasionally he forgets his self
its only a occasional cushion or blanket that gets chewed now nothing like furniture or doorframes

Oh definately not. I vowed when I was 12 or 13 that I would never have children. I've had a few partners that had children from previous relationships / marriages etc, and with the agro that I had from them, I'm glad that I kept my promise to myself.

Even now, I would have a houseful of dogs, cats, horses, and any other large 4 legged animal over 1 child.

Dogs never need new shoes, never need new coats, have no need for mobile phones, nintendos, wii's, their own tv, dvd player, and I never have to worry about them playing up is school, or getting good grades, and there is no danger of them doing drugs or being found by the cops lying in a gutter at 5 am cos they can't find their way home from the pub. At christmas and birthdays - a tuppenny ha'penny toy and they think they've had the world.

I've never regretted not having children - dogs are a ready made hot water bottle too. Much more fun.
