Thread: Listing 30k HTML Limit ?

  1. #1

Default Listing 30k HTML Limit ?

    Hello,

I would like to start a new listing however the 30k HTML limit is proving very restrictive. The listing depends upon comparison photographs between the LED product and incandescent versions, and there are many details to present.

The initial HTML file was 97k long, and I have found HTML Shrinker that reduces this to 40k by removing free spaces. I can bring this down to 30k by removing information, however it would be very helpful to increase the limit to 40, 50 or more kbytes.

Considering the current limit it would also be very useful to have a free space remover built into the Ebid HTML editor.

The photos shouldn't be an issue. Just host them off-site either on your own site or one of the free image hosting sites. Auction text can also be reduced by putting paragraphs which are common to all your auctions on your All About page. It is usual to place postage and packing details or T&C's there with a link from the auction page. These methods an dramatically cut down the space needed for your auction.

Thank you, I will start using the extra webpage(s). I already have all photos offsite however was amazed to see the size of the html code considering it contains perhaps 1-5k of text. Removing zeros and webpage links should do the trick.

I hit the same problem when I first came here. My T&C's had grown while on eB@y purely to try and cover my back from the knives of eB@y and P@yP@l. eB@y also claimed that to be valid they had to be contained within the listing body.

I have now offloaded them to my own webspace with a link in the listing to the T&C's page there.

If you want your T & C in each listing, just use an image, that way you can update the lot in one go if you need to.
