    Hello Ken,

just read your post, haven't been for a few years so couldn't recommend a specific B&B but the whole Island is a wonderful place the south IMHO is far better than the north.

A slower pace of life and some beautiful country side.
If I had the chance to go again I would definately go back to either Ventnor, Shanklin or Benbidge. Lots of local attractions, Country pubs and resteraunts (spelling?)

I would also ferry from Lymington, far better trip.

    Try googling.

    Icing.

The Pompey-Fishbourne is a lot closer to me than driving all the way to Lymington to go to Yarmouth

Ken spent 20 years on the island, but wouldnt know where to suggest now it was 15 years ago , went back for a few days 2years ago, & a premire Lodge which is on the outskirts of Newport that was our choice because the breakfasts would be wasted on us, if you want the long ferry trip as long as its not a rough day southampton is good, it is still behind the times most of the friends we had there have also moved to the mainland, but should be able to get a nice rest & also some drwaing & painting if weather is good.Enjoy your trip, it was a good place 15 years ago to sell Post cards.

Most times I've been to the Island it was sailing, including round it, don't think the car ferry will do that

Must be about 10 years ago I was there last time. So any info I might have would be a bit out of date.
